I learned a couple of new tricks watching your shade videos...#1 folding the shroud before sewing. I had some shroud that had come in a kit ( I don't usually use that sort of shroud ) and I used it on my own project and I think I tacked both sides. The other trick was the way you pulled through the cords from the RBS system. One thing I didn't see you do was add the weight bar...I am guessing it in the bottom hem and I am thinking that dofix must be pretty good stuff. For those who don't have a dofix system, Wawak has a good double face tape -leather tape. I feel like I have a better system for marking where the tacks go for the shroud...other than that, this is a wonderful instructional video. I appreciated the way you did the top velcro and noted that wee bit above it so as to really cover the headrail. Good Job!

Rather than stapling the gathered pcs to a separate board (wish the video had explained why that was done)), if the TOP of the springs has a wooden frame the skirt can be stapled directly to that. For making a skirt for springs with a metal top frame, after gathering the skirt fabric sew a strip of fabric* (I once tore an old white sheet into strips) to the gathered pc (right sides together, ⅝" seam) then flip it over, press the seam toward the strip, align the edge of the seam with the outside of the metal pc, pllull the strip across the metal, extending a bit further beyond it, & use upholstery "pins' ** to attach the strip to the fabric (or whatever the rest of the springs are covered with) as close as possible to the inside edge of the metal. Easy to remove for laundering - just unscrew the pins. *Width of the strips: ⅝" + width of the metal pc + an inch or so extra. **Upholstery pins: round, flat pc of plastic for the top, "corkscrew" pc of metal, with a point at the end, coming down from the center of the top, place the point where you want it & twist the top pc until it's flat to the surface of the fabric.

Hi Kim. Love your videos. I have a Craftsy membership and have done you sofa slip cover class and successfully cover a small sofa in natural 12oz bull denim. I’ve just finished measuring a larger sofa I’m going to do. The deck, outside back and inside back measurements are all 84 - 90 inches in width. I’m either going to use 58” 12oz bull denim or 72” 10oz natural canvas. I planned on laying the pieces by height up/down roll or would you recommend doing rail road so I don’t have to piece. If I use the bull denim I will have to make sure the subtle pattern is going the same direction. Thank you.
